Chromium Oxide Green

Chromium Oxide Green, also known as chromium sesquioxide or chromia, is one of four chromium oxides. Chromium green oxide is the inorganic compound of the formula Cr2O3. In nature, it occurs as the rare mineral Eskolaite. Because of its considerable stability, chromia is a commonly used pigment and was originally called viridian.

Uses for Chromium Oxide Green

  • Commonly used as a pigment
  • Polishing (or stropping) the edges of knives, razors, etc. on a piece of leather or similar material.
  • Used in paints, inks and glasses.
  • It is the colourant in “chrome green” and “institutional green”
  • Used extensively in cosmetics to adjust hues in foundations, blushes, bronzers and similar products.
